The new music that’s got us dancing in our rooms, singing in our cars, and daydreaming to a beat.

Shelby Morgan

“Made for Me”

Shelby Morgan’s new single will get you up and dancing to a sad song.  “Made for Me” is the perfect pop single for the summer. Her strong voice fits well with the lyrics and the catchy rhythm is reminiscent of tracks from Dua Lipa and Katy Perry. The track has a refreshing aspect attributed to Shelby’s impactful voice. The groovy beat has an almost electronic atmosphere balanced out with pop elements that make you want to move around. However, the lyrics “I refuse to see what others see. I still think that God made you just for me” and “I keep you high on a pedestal. Even though you are unavailable” bring a melancholic surface to the track. Whether you like it or not, “Made for Me” will make you revisit your teenage years, but it will still make it to your summer 2021 playlist.

Suzy Callahan

“Wish You Well (Subharm version)”

With powerful lyrics and a soft melody,“Wish You Well” by Maryland-based singer Suzy Callahan highlights her voice while demonstrating characteristics of indie and folk genres. These aspects combine to create a sweet-sounding track that gives feelings of hopelessness and airiness. At the same time, the lyrics provide depth and strength to the single. The powerful lyric state: “two fighters in the ring, both are blind. Punching at the air, they miss each time. Someone bring in relief, they must be fools. Standing on the sidelines seems so cruel.”  With a mixture of soft guitar chords and captivating percussion, listening to this single would gratify all indie and folk lovers.

Normal State

Trip Around the Sun

The single “Trip Around the Sun” is the perfect dreamy indie song for a long car ride. Cove’s voice combines with the guitar chords to evolve the listener into a chill, mellow song. However, belonging to an album titled Anhedonia, which means not being able to enjoy anything, the single has a disheartening lyric that talks about missing someone. While the heartfelt lyric states “Paint a beach inside your head; watch the waves, breath out, breath in. I will paint you next to me make my little world completely,” Cove’s voice caresses the lyrics and flows through the melody, not allowing you to experience sadness. If you feel like laying down and relaxing, you should grab your headphones and let Normal State’s new single guide you back to your favorite summertime memories.
